Hello, I'm Savannah Stanley

Licensed Professional Counselor #81985

I spent a good portion of my life hiding myself from the world. I was the “shy, sensitive kid”, and was taught that was something negative. Now I see that what was perceived as a weakness is actually a superpower. Through my journey of personal therapy and graduate school, I recognized that not being “me” led to less satisfying relationships with my partner, my family, and my peers, so that is why I feel so passionate about embracing myself and for others to embrace their true selves as well. I want to help guide you on your journey to become more fully who you are.

I have always been called to be a counselor, but my concern with the expectations of others caused me to hit the “ignore” button in favor of the medical field. It was not until I began to accept myself and be more authentic that I recognized where I truly belonged. Soon after I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Biology, I began the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin.

Therapy with me

Let’s be real! Empowerment, empathy, and embracing your authentic self is the name of the game. During our time together, I strive to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. I believe we heal not just through connection, but authentic connection. I do not see myself as a blank slate therapist, so there will often be humor in our sessions when it feels appropriate. We will work together to grow and foster your relationships as your true self with your partner(s), your family, your co-workers, and your friends. But this new authentic self will need tools, right? While there are no quick fixes in therapy, I often provide tools related to communication, conflict resolution, boundary setting, and coping skills to help navigate the challenges of life.

I operate from a strengths-based relational approach and am always considering the impact of past and present relationships on your mental health and overall well-being. I want to work with you to create and nurture the type of relationships that contribute to your own healthy functioning and flourishing. Positive connections are healing connections, and I look forward to connecting with you as we embark on your journey to become your authentic “you”!
