Hello, I'm Anna Asif

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy -Associate #204296

Supervised by Melissa Hargrave, LMFT-Supervisor #201306

I have always had an interest in how our experiences shape our lives, the mind/body connection, and relationships. However, having that interest didn’t help me figure out what I wanted to do with it right away. After graduating with my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio, I worked with parents and their children on the spectrum providing behavioral therapy.

Working as a behavioral therapist expanded my desire to understand emotions, patterns, and relationship dynamics at a deeper level. So I then started my master’s program at St. Edwards University where I graduated with my master’s degree in Counseling.
When I am not working I love to cook, watch too much TV, spend time with family and fur
babies which include a cat and two bunnies.

Therapy can be intimidating, and I know that from my own personal experience. My goal is to work with you to create safe and inviting space through collaboration and feedback.

Therapy with me

I’m so glad you are here! Seeking out therapy takes bravery and vulnerability, and you are incredibly courageous for taking this leap. As a bi-lingual Marriage and Family Therapist-Associate who can offer services in Urdu and Hindi, I provide services to couples and adult individuals. I would describe my counseling style as warm, genuine, collaborative, and relaxed. My ultimate goal is to work together to create a space for you that is nonjudgmental, safe, and empathetic.

Together, we will work to create a safe space where you can openly explore your areas of concern. I will help you find fullness in life through finding your true authentic self, and navigating difficult relationship/family issues.

Relationships can be hard when people from different backgrounds come together. It creates unforeseen challenges that can impact intimacy, connection, and security. Couples therapy provides you with tools to create a more meaningful and fulfilling relationship with open communication.

I have a passion for working with clients from marginalized communities in which therapy has long been viewed with stigma and judgement. As a first-generation South Asian American myself, I have a deep-rooted understanding of the way cultural background can impact a couple, family, and individual. Your stories and unique backgrounds are important to me.

I may be a good fit for you if:
You find it difficult to live authentically
You are struggling with difficult relationships in your life
You have trouble with naming emotions and feelings
You are a couple looking to improve communication
You are trying to understand difficult family of origin relationships
