How would you describe therapy with you?
I like to take a collaborative and strengths-based approach with my clients. I believe that you are the expert on your life, and my purpose is to work with you side by side while providing you with a safe and non-judgmental environment. In therapy we will go through a journey to gain a better understanding of who you are on a deeper level. We will build on your strengths and create a box of tools to help you build successful relationships with yourself and others.
My Passions and Specialties:
My specialties include working with adults and couples on relational conflict, communication, and inner discovery. I look at therapy through a systemic lens, meaning, I will look at your life and experiences relationally. If something is happening with you, it will also be affecting your partner, your family, and the other systems you are in. I am trained in Gottman Marital Therapy and use a narrative approach during sessions.
I am passionate about working with couples who need help reconnecting with one another and building long-term relational success, as well as, working with individuals to find out who they are and working through internal struggles. I do not think there is only one way to help someone. What works for one person might not work for someone else, so my job is to help find what works for you and build upon that.
My Personal Journey:
I graduated from undergrad in 2012 and immediately joined the corporate world. After four years I found myself very unhappy with the work I was doing, and I knew I was meant to do something more. I always wanted to be a therapist and thought this was the perfect time. I applied for graduate school and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2018. Shortly after, I moved to the great city of Austin to start my new career in counseling!
