How would you describe therapy with you?

The best compliment I’ve ever had from a client was that they felt a sense of relief walking into my office. No matter how difficult or painful the challenges you are facing, I strive to make therapy with me as comfortable and inviting as possible. Therapy is a joint effort and I always welcome and encourage feedback from clients. You’re in control, so if something isn’t working, let’s change it!

I would describe my therapy style as encouraging and genuine. Therapy can be a challenging process, so I work to help clients acknowledge and utilize their strengths and positive qualities to create changes in their lives. I love exploring relationships with clients, whether that’s romantic, family, or friendships. I also work with clients to explore meaning and values, either as an individual or as a couple. I think it’s always worthwhile to think about what gives your life meaning and where you want your life journey to take you, and therapy is a great space to have those conversations.

My Passions and Specialties:

I am passionate about working with couples and individuals (including both adults and teens) experiencing problems in their relationships or problems adjusting to major life transitions. I work from a trauma-informed perspective and work to help clients understand the impact of trauma to cultivate healing and growth from traumatic experiences. I have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and use this approach in my work with couples.

My specialties include:

  • Grief and loss

  • Strengthening the relationship between partners

  • Social anxiety

  • Depression

  • Coming out as LGBTQ+

  • Adjusting to major life changes as an individual or in a couple

  • Managing conflict between partners

My Personal Journey:

I’m a local who grew up right here in central Texas. I’ve always had an interest in figuring out what makes people tick and how people change, so studying mental health has been a perfect fit. After graduating with my bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas, I realized pretty quickly that I needed a quick break from the academic world. I worked for a couple of years at a medical supply company, and then started my master’s program at Texas State University. I graduated with a master’s degree in Professional Counseling in 2019. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with friends & family, exercising, eating good food, and watching entirely too much TV.

Starting your journey on the therapeutic process can be intimidating, but I am here to guide you on the process to meaningful growth.
